What are soapnuts?
The soapnut tree belongs to the main plant order Sapindaceae and family Sapindeae. Sapindus in Latin means "soap of the Indies" and saponaria refers to the saponin found in the fruit. The soapnut tree is one of the most important trees of tropical and sub-tropical regions of Asia. The tree has life span of nearly 70 years; it can reach a height of 80 feet. The fruit which is called soapnut is 1.5-2in in diameter contains one to three seeds.
Soapnuts, known as Reetha in Hindi, are also called soap nuts, wash nuts, soap berries, soapberry nuts. Local populations have been using soapnuts for centuries as a washing and cleaning product.
 
What are Saponins?
Soapnut shells contain a natural substance called Saponin. When shells absorb water, they release Saponins, which circulate as natural surfactants in laundry water, reducing the surface tension of the water and freeing dirt, oil and grime from laundry.
 
Are soapnuts products vegan and animal friendly?
Soapnuts are a vegetal product; they are vegan, cruelty free and not tested on animals.
 
Can soapnuts be used with septic and grey water systems?

How long could I keep my soapnut box and use my soapnuts?
Soapnuts can be stored for several years as long as they are kept in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
 
Are soapnuts hypoallergenic and safe for those with sensitive skin?
Soapnuts are natural and hypoallergenic. They do not contain added chemicals or manufactured fragrance.
 
Are soapnuts safe for those with nut allergies?
People with nut allergies can safely use soapnuts as they are not a nut but a dried fruit shell.
 
Are soapnuts safe for my family and me?
Soapnuts have no chemicals added therefore they are safe for the entire family even to do baby laundry.
 
Do soapnuts shells have a fragrance?
Soapnuts shells have their own natural mild and gentle dry fruit scent sometimes a little vinegary, they will not add fragrance to your clean laundry. Sachets contain organic lemongrass essential oil that will not scent your laundry.
 
Why are there no bubbles during the wash cycle?
Soapnuts are a natural, low sudsing product and are effective with your High Efficiency (HE) washer. There are no added fillers, dyes or chemicals that would create bubbles in the wash.
 
Are soapnuts an additive to my regular laundry detergent?
Proudly replace your conventional detergent with soapnuts, they will do a wonderful job of washing your laundry.
 
Do soapnuts soften laundry?
Absolutely! Soapnuts are a natural fabric softener.
 
Do I need to remove the soapnuts from the washer during the rinse cycle?
There is no need to remove the soapnuts from the rinse cycle. The little bit of saponin left in the rinse water adds softness and body to your clothes.
 
Are soapnuts color-safe?
Soapnuts clean gently and naturally help maintain fabric color.
 
Will I be able to hand wash my clothes with Soapnut Sachets?
When washing clothes by hand, Soapnut Sachets will release their soapnut saponins that are the active cleaning agents to remove dirt and sometimes the extremely fine soapnut powder tends to turn the water brown. The color of the wash water will not impact the detergent’s ability to clean your clothes.
 
Will soapnuts get my white clothes really white?
To maintain sparkling whites we recommend that you always wash your whites separately from colors. For extra stubborn stains, add a scoop of environmentally friendly oxygen bleach or baking soda to the wash.
 
Are soapnuts safe to use in my HE (high efficiency) or front load washer?
Since soapnuts are low sudsing, they are a perfect match for HE washers and work great in front loading machines.
 
Can soapnuts be used at the Laundromat?

Will soapnuts remove deep stains?
White fabrics may require the addition of eco-friendly bleach. Extra-tough stains may require the addition of eco-friendly stain remover or eco-friendly bleach for satisfactory results. No conventional or natural detergent can ensure removal of all stains.
 
Will I be able to use soapnuts for my delicate washables and baby laundry?
Gently cleaning soapnuts are ideal for delicate fabrics like wool, silk and baby laundry. Always wash delicates separately, and follow the washing instructions on your clothing labels.
 
Will I be able to wash performance fabrics with soapnuts?
